1930s Pony Hair Jacket
A rare and early example of pony hair hide outerwear dating from the 1930s. This lovely piece comes from Cripps Sons & Co, a well-respected outfitter in Liverpool operating from the late 1800s through to the 1970s. Made from stitched hide pieces, it has a boxy silhouette, a real fur collar, and two large feature buttons at the waist. It fastens at the neck with a hook and eye and is fully lined.
Condition: In excellent condition considering its age. The fur has been well looked after and remains stiff, retaining its shape nicely. There are some signs of wear and rubbing in areas such as the elbows, seams and around the buttons. There is also a small mend under the collar where the hook and eye are attached. Nothing significant.
