1940s *rare* Antique Patchwork Bed Jacket
1940s *rare* Antique Patchwork Bed Jacket
A beautifully unique bed jacket made from an antique patchwork quilt, constructed from a mix of contrasting fabric squares in shades of pink, blue, white, dark pink, and floral prints. The jacket is lined in pink silk and features a quilted collar, short sleeves, and a curved open front with no closure. Small pink criss-cross stitches run throughout the quilted panels, and the overall construction is very well done.
There are no labels. The jacket construction appears to date to the late 1940s, while the quilt used is likely earlier. The fit is cropped and easy to wear. A rare and very charming piece of nightwear history!
Condition: Very good. Presents and wears well overall. Light general wear throughout, with three areas showing more notable wear. There is some nibbling and moth holing to the inside back (photo 13). A small floral patch near the front left hem shows staining (photo 14). One silk quilt patch has frayed slightly (photo 15), and there is a small area of pink staining at the back (photo 16).
