1930s Silk Chiffon Floral Dress Set
1930s Silk Chiffon Floral Dress Set
A truly exceptional early 1930s ensemble, beautifully handmade from sheer, textured silk chiffon in vibrant shades of red and orange, an autumn palette brought to life. The sleeveless dress features a V-neckline and is cut on the bias, with skilfully pieced and panelled construction that creates a fluid, elegant drape. Its handkerchief hem, finished with delicately hand-rolled edges, moves effortlessly with the body.
The matching bolero is cropped with bracelet-length sleeves and includes an additional panel of fabric that forms a soft, graceful flounce. The stitching throughout is incredibly fine and precise, reflecting the high level of craftsmanship that went into its creation. A rare, one-of-a-kind set.
Please note: This is a delicate silk chiffon piece and should be handled and stored with care. A cover will be included with purchase; ideally, it should be stored folded in acid-free tissue to best preserve its condition.
Condition: Excellent for its age. A very small, discreet mend has been made just above the popper closure. The poppers may require re-anchoring in future, and there are a few minor seam frays, none of which affect wear or structure. Overall, a remarkably well-preserved ensemble.
