A truly gorgeous 1940s CC41 nightdress, cut from a pale pink, luminous celanese. Originally intended as nightwear, it works beautifully worn as a dress today. It has a bias-cut shape, a scooped neckline, a waist tie, and a slinky skirt. There is a pretty embroidered leaf-esque swirl motif at the bust.
Condition: Good/Very Good.
- Due to improper storage, there are large diffuse areas of texture change and dimpling to the Celanese, most visible when backlit. This is not damage through the fabric, but rather typical wear to the fibres, though it does give the dress a slightly textured appearance.
- There are some general small areas of wear, including a few small moth holes.
- A faint area of staining at the back (see photos 8–12), along with a larger stain to the front of the skirt (see photo 10), both of which have not responded to gentle spot cleaning. The skirt stain is pretty hidden within the drape of the fabric well.
- Additionally, there are small nicks and moth holes to the tops of the sleeves, which have been backed for added support and strength, and a small mend to the left seam.
Measurements (in inches):

- Hips: up to 44"
