1900s Pure Cotton Sheer Dress
An original early 1900s nightdress made from ultra-fine, feather-light sheer cotton. It has a long, loose silhouette with a square neckline and flutter sleeves. The neckline is decorated with an unusual Greek-inspired spiral embroidered design, while the sleeves feature delicate mesh panels. A beautiful and versatile piece that can be worn in a variety of ways - thrown over swimwear, layered over other garments, or worn on its own.
Condition:
Fair to good vintage condition. It presents beautifully, but this is a wounded bird and has been priced accordingly.
- The dress has clearly been repaired by several different people over many years.
- Some of the mends are beautifully executed, while others are quite amateur and rushed. There is also a large modern iron-on patch at the back, which I have chosen not to remove due to the delicate nature of the cotton.
- There are multiple scattered moth holes throughout, along with other general signs of wear.
- The damage should not worsen with careful wear and handling, but the affected areas are naturally weaker than the surrounding cotton.
