1910s Cotton Step-In
One of my favourite finds of the year. Original Edwardian step-in dating from the 1910s–1920s, made from fine, lightweight cotton. This semi sheer, softly structured piece features classic bloomer style legs and a button down back, with a rounded neckline threaded with ribbon.
Delicate butterfly motifs are repeated on the legs, and sheer lace trims the bust, sleeves, and cuffs, with ribbon laced through the cuffs for added detail. The crotch is open to around mid-thigh, as typical of the period. Sheer lace trim finishes the bust and sleeves and is echoed again at the cuffs, where ribbon is also laced through. A special and well-preserved example of early 20th-century lingerie.
Condition: Fabulous for its age.
- Some fraying to the seams at the leg openings
