1960s Black Crochet Knit Nude Illusion Maxi Dress

A spectacular 1960s maxi dress, handmade and utterly unique. This piece features an ultra-long, figure-hugging column silhouette with a round neckline. Crafted in a striking nude illusion style, it boasts a heavy black crochet weave layered over a gold-toned thin and soft taffeta-like fabric.

The cuffs and skirt are finished with incredible crochet fringe, almost dreadlock-like in texture, adding to the drama and movement of the piece. The dress itself is exceptionally heavy, weighing nearly 2KG — a true testament to the craftsmanship involved. A one-of-a-kind vintage treasure!

Condition: Very good. There are some signs of general wear expected with age. The fringing at the cuffs, skirt, and hem has become matted from wear and washing over time, creating a dreadlock-like effect.

Additionally, there is some fraying to the underlayer in places, with a few thin threads from the weave poking through the crochet. I have washed this myself, but I would recommend dry cleaning or a light steam to preserve the weight and material as much as possible.
