This is a very special piece! This 1930s bed jacket is made from peachy pink silk and has been beautifully crafted at home by a skilled seamstress, with lots of hand stitching and a delicate hand-rolled hem. Even the smocking is completely hand-done in a complicated and unusual type of smocking called Canadian smocking. It has long sleeves, an open front, and is unlined. The amount of work and time that would have gone into making this piece would have been lengthy and painstaking.
Condition: Excellent. As this piece is mostly hand-stitched, there is some evidence of this at the edges, lapels, and collar, with a few loose stitches here and there. It has been re-stitched in a few areas by a previous owner (e.g., at the right inner lapel) and in a couple of other small spots.
