A great set for a bride! Dating from the 1980s, this beautiful cream set has a warm, yellow undertone and is made up of a slip and a matching full-length peignoir, both featuring detailed lace trim and embroidery.
The slip is full-length, with a slightly empire bust and thick straps. Two rows of sheer lace trim the bust, with a low crossover neckline adorned with floral and dot work embroidery. The peignoir mirrors the design, with matching lace and embroidery, flared bracelet-length sleeves, and faux buttons up the front (no buttons holes). No brand labels, but it does have a fabric tag noting 100% polyester.
Condition: Good. Both pieces present beautifully but do have some aesthetic flaws. Firstly, apologies for the creases — my steamer couldn’t quite tackle them! The polyester is lightweight and semi-sheer but has a dense, sturdy weave, so a proper press with an iron should smooth it out perfectly.
The slip has an area of hole-ing and some fabric fragility at the back (photos 10-12), as well as two faint stains near the right-hand side of the front skirt that have not budged with treatment. These are very light and only visible when the fabric is held up to the light. (photo 13)
Similarly, the peignoir has a larger faintly marked area that appears almost like water staining, again only visible when held up to the light (photos 14 & 15). Both areas are subtle but have been factored into the price.
