An incredible and rare wedding dress from the iconic 1970s boutique and brand Mexicana. Founded by couturier John Cavanagh and Alfredo Bouret—an illustrator who had worked with Chanel and DiorMexicana was celebrated for its opulent, bohemian gowns inspired by Bouret’s Mexican heritage. This beautiful piece was purchased directly from the original wearer on her wedding day in 1975 and has been lovingly preserved ever since. Ah, the memories it holds!

The dress has a gentle column shape, with long sleeves that finish in feature cuffs, and a square neckline. Crafted from white cotton, it’s pleated and intricately pin-tucked throughout, with panels of sheer tonal lace adding detail and depth. It fastens at the back with a long metal zip and hook-and-eye closure. The original wearer’s mother handmade a matching slip to wear underneath—it’s made from an unusual thick nylon and will be included in the sale. That said, a pair of cycling shorts and a bra would work just as well. All photos have been taken with the slip underneath.

Condition: Excellent. She has been beautifully looked after by her owner. Some light bobbling and signs of wear to the cotton but nothing major.
