Here’s another fabulous 1950s suit for the gal on the go! This sharp set comes from Best & Co by Barnsley, Fifth Avenue. Best & Company, founded by Albert Best in 1879, was known for creating stylish, practical clothing for real women. This particular suit would have been a perfect choice for the chic city woman, offering both style and function.

Crafted from brown and white checked wool, the suit features a beautifully tailored, short jacket with a smart silhouette. It has four pockets—two real and two faux—bracelet-length sleeves, and is lined in a light brown crepe. The jacket fastens at the front with three elegant buttons. The matching lined pencil skirt is sleek and fitted, securing with a metal side zip and button. A perfect example of vintage tailoring at its best!

Condition: Excellent. Both pieces are in very good condition for their age. The jacket has some nibbles to the inside lining, as well as two small mends to the inside back.

Sizing Guide

Vintage clothing is often homemade and/or follows a very different size guide to modern-day clothing. Please ensure you check the measurements carefully on the product description before making your order. We use a rough sizing guide based on waist sizing:

XS | Waist 22"- 25"
S | Waist 26"- 27"
M | Waist 28"- 30"
L | Waist 31"- 32"
XL | Waist 33"- plus

Please do not take the size guide as gospel as the size stated here may not be the size you would normally buy. It is very important to know your bust, waist and hip sizing ahead of purchase.
