A fabulous example of 1940s outerwear, this coat is absolutely stunning! It comes from Livingston's, Youngstown, a brand renowned for producing high-quality coats in the mid-20th century. Known for stylish designs and luxurious fabrics like wool blends, Livingston’s coats often featured elegant details such as large collars, distinctive silhouettes, and intricate accents—and this piece is no exception.. Made what feels like a wool and crepe blend, it boasts bold padded shoulders, a nipped waist, and a flared skirt. The coat is adorned with beautiful soutache embroidery across the shoulders and fastens with a striking statement button at the front.

Condition: Excellent for its age. Some light fading here and there but nothing major. There is an inside loop for extra security that is missing a button, one could be added if preferred. The shoulder padding has deteriorated a bit more in the right shoulder than the left so is not as full.

Shown on an approx UK size 6 mannequin (B:34"/W:25"/H:34”) and an approx UK size (busty roughly DD cup) 14-16 mannequin (B:41"/W:32.5"/H:43.3”). Could fit a range of sizes depending on desired fit.

Sizing Guide

Vintage clothing is often homemade and/or follows a very different size guide to modern-day clothing. Please ensure you check the measurements carefully on the product description before making your order. We use a rough sizing guide based on waist sizing:

XS | Waist 22"- 25"
S | Waist 26"- 27"
M | Waist 28"- 30"
L | Waist 31"- 32"
XL | Waist 33"- plus

Please do not take the size guide as gospel as the size stated here may not be the size you would normally buy. It is very important to know your bust, waist and hip sizing ahead of purchase.
