A very lovely bed jacket from Eleanor Beard, Kentucky, a renowned company that began in quilt-making in the 1920s. At its peak, the business reportedly employed a thousand people, hand-stitching quilts and other items sold in prestigious shops from Madison Avenue in New York to Santa Barbara. By the 1930s, Eleanor Beard’s offerings expanded into a beautiful collection of robes and bed jackets, crafted from silks, washable rayons, and other delicate fabrics.

This particular piece, likely a silky rayon blend, features a charming ditsy print, full flared sleeves, a cropped, boxy silhouette, and a scalloped hem. It is worn open, with no closures, and would be a lovely cover up worn at home or out!

Condition: Good. Structurally, the item is beautiful, but it does have some minor aesthetic flaws. There is pink staining on the back of the right sleeve, likely from dye, which has not been budged with treatment. Additionally, there is some storage staining on the left sleeve and hem, as well as minor yellowing around the collar. The lining shows small signs of moth damage.

XS | Waist 22"- 25"
S | Waist 26"- 27"
M | Waist 28"- 30"
L | Waist 31"- 32"
