An utterly darling Edwardian nightdress, perfect worn as either a day dress or traditional nightwear. This piece has a loose, smock-like shape with finely detailed lace panelwork at the neck and bust. The hem echoes this design, featuring alternating stripes of delicate lace. Crafted from very lightweight, semi-sheer lawn cotton, it has a beautifully airy quality. Two fine French seams run down the skirt to give shape. At the back, there is a placket finished with hand-stitched herringbone detail and three original covered buttons, though it has since been sewn down so the piece now slips on easily over the head.
Condition: Excellent. Considering its age, this is in remarkable condition. The ribbon is modern and the back has been modified.
