1930s Crepe Dress
A lovely true 1930s dress in a very pale dove grey. It features an extremely wide neckline designed to be worn as a cowl neck, along with a cowl back, and has been cut on the bias to create that characteristic swoop across the body. The sleeves are puffed and cinched, with smocking at the shoulders. It secures at the side with hook and eyes, and is pulled over the head to wear.
Condition: Very good for its age. The crepe remains in good condition, and feels sturdy.
- A very small mark at the waist that has not budged with a soak in cool water and treatment (see photo 7).
- The neckline is a little unusual. I cannot tell if it has been unpicked, and the double stitching line may indicate a former folded hem. It is meant to fall as a cowl and may be missing a former weight.
